Transportation ELP Certificate – Product Description The Door Service English Transportation ELP Placement Test provides a comprehensive evaluation of a driver’s English language proficiency in accordance with DOT §391.11 requirements. This official assessment ensures that drivers possess the essential English skills necessary for safe and effective communication in the transportation industry. Proprietary Pre-Test Study Platform: Drivers may elect to utilize a proprietary self-study platform prior to taking the Placement Test. This platform reinforces essential English language skills through 10 instructional video lessons, accompanied by study guides and workbooks in General English. Access to this study content is provided for 30 days. Individual Licensing Requirement: Each driver must purchase an individual license, hereinafter referred to as a Driver License, which aligns with IRS §127 requirements for compliance and tax-eligible educational benefits. Assessment Components: Placement Test – Evaluates reading, speaking, and comprehension skills. 1-on-1 Interview with a Master Teacher – A certified instructor identifies strengths, pinpoints deficiencies, and provides a recommended course of action if needed. Certificate of Level – Upon successful completion, drivers receive an official certificate validating their English proficiency, providing confidence when interacting with DOT inspectors and ensuring operational compliance. Optional Preparation Course: For drivers facing Out-of-Service (OOS) status, an optional 3-day mock interview course is available. Led by a Master English Teacher, this role-playing program prepares drivers for interaction with the inspecting officer to facilitate reinstatement of driving privileges. This preparation course is separate from the Placement Test package. Disclaimer: Completion of the Transportation ELP Certificate does not guarantee that a driver is authorized to operate a commercial vehicle. Drivers must follow all DOT procedures to resolve any OOS status or regulatory compliance requirements.
